Telling my story, and life’s stories…
I never would have imagined that photography would become one of the biggest passions in my life, and ultimately, my career. When I was a freshman in high school, photography meant filling an extra elective, but from that point on my interest grew quickly. Something about photography stuck with me as I continued to grow into the man that I am today. If I had to give a reason for the alluring nature of photography, it would be its ability to give direction in a directionless world. The lines between fact and fiction become blurred so often, but in a picture what you see is the truth of that moment. The ability to portray the way that things truly are is monumental. It is unchanging and absolute. Cemented in history. These concepts fueled my desire to tell a unique and raw story through the photos I take. A picture can be given such incredible meaning as long as there is a compelling story behind it. There’s a time to empower still-images to have an impact on their own, and there’s a time to tell a collective story through a series of pictures. I strive to tell the story of the events and people around me in order to cultivate memories, new perspectives, and insight for those in my community and across the nation.
